Operant conditioning is a type of learning where behaviour is shaped by rewards or punishments. If a behaviour is followed by a positive result, it is more likely to happen again. On the other hand, if a behaviour leads to a negative outcome, it is less likely to be repeated. This method is commonly used in education and animal training to encourage desired actions. Psychologists believe operant conditioning helps explain how people and animals learn through experience and why they change their behaviour based on consequences.
